2007 MFA Logger/Forestry Field Features Something
for Everyone

The Maryland Forests Association 's 2007 Western Maryland Loggers/Forestry Field Days and Equipment Show will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 8 & 9, at the Garrett County Fairgrounds in McHenry. Among this year's exhibitors will be band saw mills, wood splitters, engines, log trucks, skidders, loaders, chainsaws, and feller bunchers and more, with representatives of many of the major dealers of logging and trucking equipment.

Back by popular demand will be the only SKIDDER PULL COMPETION in the Mid-Atlantic Region. A real crowd pleaser, professional skidder operators will be able to compete for prize monies in four different class to pull a weighted sled. The event is schedule for Saturday morning , June 9th. Open to professional operators only, pre-registration is required.

Sponsored by the Maryland Forests Association, the two-day event also featured educational displays, programs, and demonstrations on many different aspects of forests, forestry and the forest products industry. The family event welcomes young and old alike to enjoy horse logging demonstrations, logging safety demonstrations, live music, presentations by Birds of Prey, Scales and Tales, Allegany College Woodsmen's Team, Chainsaw Carver Shelly Upole and appearances by Smokey Bear.

Tickets at the gate will be $5 per day. Children under 12 are admitted free. Local civic groups will man the food booths to keep the "workers" and the crowd fueled for the two-day event.

Celebrating 30+ years of service to the Maryland forest community, the Maryland Forests Association is a non-profit citizens' organization promoting the maintenance of a healthy and productive forest land base, and serving as an advocate for forest landowners, foresters, and those in the forest products industry.
