The Representation the total forest community: MFA serves as an advocate for forest landowners, forestry professionals, and forest industry in all areas relating to trees, forests, and forestry. It works on existing problems and identifies new issues of concern as they arise. MFA provides information for individuals and groups, and presents testimony to local and state officials and legislature on issues relating to forests and forestry. The building of effective partnerships: MFA maintains a close liaison with appropriate state agencies, businesses, and other conservation groups. MFA participates in meetings, committees, and commissions to make sure that forest landowner, professional forester, and forest industry perspectives are heard and understood. Educational programs for Maryland's youth: Learn more about our latest endeavor, the Maryland Forests Forever Interactive CD ROM for middle school students. MFA also supports and participates in educational programs for youth, including Project Learning Tree (PLT), 4-H, and the Envirothon.

THE MARYLAND FORESTS ASSOCIATION, INC.is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt citizen's organization for people interested in trees, forests, and forestry.
Since 1976, MFA's mission has been to promote the maintenance of a healthy and productive forest land base to enhance the economic, environmental, and social well-being of all who live in the State.
To this end, MFA has sought, and will continue to seek, opportunities to participate in efforts to assure positive outcomes for several issues of concern to the membership.
MFA has been active in:
- working to provide incentives and eliminate disincentives for forest landowners to keep their land in forest.
- assuring that forest landowners have the right to choose forest management strategies that will meet their own objectives, including the sale of forest product.
- streamlining the forest harvesting permitting process.
- supporting effective forest and forestry informational and educational programs for children, youth, and the public at large.
- promoting professional development for foresters, loggers, truckers, and others in the industry.
- building an effective network of partnerships and affiliations with other organizations both within and outside the forest community.
